Funeral services for Wyman Lee Cook, age 80, of Clarkesville will be held Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 11:00 AM from the Hillside Memorial Chapel with Rev. Tommy Stowe officiating. Interment will follow the service in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Cook passed away Wedneday, September 28, 2016 following a period of declining health.
Born in Guin, Alabama on July 30, 1936, Mr. Cook was the son of the late Willie R. and Lamora J. Williams Cook. He graduated from Walker County High School in 1954 and he was a United States Army and Air Force Veteran. After his undergraduate work, Mr. Cook earned a Masters in Education from the University of South Florida. He was a retired educator from Polk County Schools with 31 years of loyal service. Mr. Cook enjoyed reading, teaching, and volunteering and he was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cook is preceded in death by his wife Flora Jean Cook, and grandson Timothy Hatfield.
Survivors include sons and daughters in law Mike and Joyce Hatfield of Plant City, Florida, Dan and Teresa Hatfield of Auburndale, Florida and Mark and Dana Cook of Riverview, Florida, daughters and sons in law Sharon and Bill Seller of Baldwin, and Deborah and Gary Freeman of Marlton, New Jersey, sisters and brothers in law Carolyn and John Dicks of Haines City, Florida, Barbara and Jack Weber of Port Charlotte, Florida, brother and sister in law Clark and Maxine Cook of Winter Haven, Florida, sister Elizabeth Blair of Haines City, Florida, as well as 13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, September 30, 2016 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
