(Cleveland)- White County School officials are working to develop a plan to get students back in the classroom this fall. Dr. Laurie Burkett Superintendent of Schools in a report distributed to each school administrator Wednesday, with the goal of reaching all parents and students said, “We believe that it is essential that we get our students back in our schools and we want to do this in the safest way possible.”
Burkett said as of Wednesday the White County School System is planning to return to in-school instruction on August 7.
“Please know that the White County School System is committed to serving our students, staff, and community. We are working tirelessly to ensure that your children receive the best education in the safest environment possible. We are very excited about starting the 2020-2021 school year,” said Dr. Burkett
According to Burkett using guidance from the Georgia Department of Education, the CDC, as well as state and local health officials, our administrators and school leaders are actively engaged in working to open our schools safely and efficiently.
The school system will be closed next week, but beginning July 6th, Superintendent Burkett said they will begin to release detailed information regarding the Reopening Plan. She said, while current plans encourage face-to-face instruction, a virtual option will also be available.
