Thomas E. “Gene” Cagle, Sr., age 83, of Toccoa, and Demorest, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 7, 2023.
Mr. Cagle was born November 15, 1939, in Habersham County, Georgia, to the late Isaac Candler and Montine Gilmer Cagle. He was a United States Army Veteran and participated in the 50 Gun Salute when Hawaii became the 50th state. Mr. Cagle was a member of Demorest Federated Church. He retired from Vermont American Corporation in Toccoa, Georgia.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Frances Clark Cagle, and sons, Stephen and Tommy Cagle; sister, Annie Lou Cagle Kennedy; and his special friends and fellow Army Veterans, Lawrence Dunbar, Wilbur, and Wilson Cox.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at the Whitfield Funeral Homes, North Chapel, with Rev. Joyce Acree officiating. Interment will follow in the Glade Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests the memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of one’s choice.
