Teen escapes with minor injuries after flipping car on Hwy. 17

A 17-year-old driver escaped serous injury New Year’s Eve in a rollover wreck on Highway 17.

Troopers from Georgia State Patrol Post 7 in Toccoa responded to the crash around 1:11 p.m. on GA 17 at Broken Arrow Lane.

Makayla Seamans of Lula was traveling southbound on Highway 17 in a Hyundai Elantra when she ran off the road. The vehicle traveled down into a gulley “where it flipped end over end, striking a tree with its top,” the GSP report states.

The vehicle came to a final rest in a creek.

Habersham EMS transported Seamans to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville for treatment of possible minor injuries.

Troopers issued her a warning for failing to maintain her lane.
