Taylor settles into job as new district health director

North Georgia’s Public Health District 2 has a new Director. Dr. Zachary Taylor was named to the post earlier this month. He was named acting health director in September following the resignation of Dr. Pamela Logan. Previously, Taylor was the health director for North Georgia Health District in Dalton and will serve as Acting Health Director there until a replacement is named.

Dr. Taylor earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Medical College of Georgia in 1982 and completed his Medical Residency at the University of Maryland, where he was Chief Resident in the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine.

Dr. Taylor has written many articles for peer-reviewed publications, books, and government publications about tuberculosis, epidemiology, and other health conditions. A native of LaGrange, Dr. Taylor, and his wife Joan reside in Hall County.

Public Health District 2 provides services for residents in 13 North Georgia counties including Banks, Dawson, Forsyth, Franklin, Habersham, Hall, Hart, Lumpkin, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union, and White.
