Sanford Russell Dean, III

Funeral services for Sanford Russell Dean, III age 39, of Demorest will be held on Wednesday, February 7th, 2018 at 6:00 PM at Hillside Memorial Chapel & Gardens, Clarkesville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM.

Russ was born on October 24, 1978 and passed on to his eternal resting peace on February 2, 2018 at his residence.

He leaves behind two sets of loving parents, Sanford (Sam) Sr and Veronica Ayers Dean of Mt. Airy. Mr. and  Sanford (Sammy) Jr and Janice Dean of Clarkesville, mother Karen Key Lord of Mt. Airy, and grandmother Linda Marie Key.  Survivors also include his six children, Lindsey, Lexie, and Hayden Dean of Clarkesville. Hartwell and Hudson Dean of Jefferson. Harper Lakey of Mt. Airy. Russ loved each of his children with all of his heart.

Other survivors include four sisters Brandy Dean-McCullough of Phoenix AZ, Kimberly Allen of Demorest, Monica Hogg, and Julie Lord of Clarkesville. Seven nieces, Lauren, Ashlyn, and Aubree McCullough of Phoenix, AZ, Marissa Hogg, Chastity, Sidney, and Addison Allen of Clarkesville, nephew Cory McCullough of Phoenix, AZ as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by an uncle Shawn Dean, infant niece Avannah McCullough, cousins Amy Lynn Cathey, Christopher Hershel Cathey, and Grandfather Hershel Key.

Russ was a member of the soccer and wrestling teams at Habersham Central High School. Following his graduation in 1997, he enlisted and served in the U.S. Army as paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne unit. He spent several years employed at Lee Arrendale State Prison and also a few years at Philips State Prison, and then was Manager of loss prevention at Walmart.

Russ will always be loved an missed by his children and those that shared children with him.

There will always be precious memories of him with all of us shooting, hunting, riding four wheelers, teaching us how to fish, hiking, being Mr. fix it and countless more. Russ always made us laugh and enjoy life.
