Rotary Recognizes HCHS Students

Three students from Habersham Central High School were recently recognized by the Habersham Rotary Club with an award for excellence in academics and service. These students were selected from Raider Salute recipients nominated by faculty members in recognition of excellence in service, character, and performance in the classroom.

Representing the sophomore class was Juan Pascual Tomas who excels in mathematics, helps classmates by translating, and is working on learning his third language. Juan lives with his aunt, Elizabeth Tomas Francisco, and uncle, Guillermo Pascual.

The junior class representative was Dieme Kabongo in recognition of his talent and dedication to the choral program. Along with school performance, he has performed in Piedmont College’s Lesson in Carols and often leads student rehearsals. Dieme is the son of Patrick and Zawadi-Kalibwe Kabongo.

Joey Terrell was the senior representative. Joey is not only an outstanding student, but he is also a leader in the Air Force JROTC program at the high school. Joey recently received a congressional appointment to the Air Force Academy from Congressman Doug Collins in support of his application to the Academy. Joey is the son of Joey and Darlene Terrell.

Other Raider Salute school-level recipients for December include Casandra Alvarez Garcia, Bethany Bruning, Emma Holland, Melanie Huerta, Jose Macias, Adrian Ramsey, and Kevin Ortega Resendiz.
