Funeral services for Robert “Bob” E. Franks, age 87 of Clarkesville will be held Friday, April 1, 2016 at 2:30 PM from Clarkesville Baptist Church with Rev. Grady Walden officiating. The body will lie in state from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM. Interment will follow the service in McConnell Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery in Hiawassee. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, March 31, 2016 from 5-8 PM.
Mr. Franks passed away March 30, 2016.
Born in Hiawassee on August 2, 1928 Mr. Franks was the son of the late Fred G. and Pauline Ashe Franks. Mr. Franks was a U.S. Air Force Veteran having served in Korea and the Philippines. He worked for Crawford & Co. from 1958-1965 and was with Cotton States Insurance from 1965-1992 where he was a claims adjuster and later the district claims manager in the Athens office. He was a member of Clarkesville Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Franks is preceded in death by sister Jewell Virginia Franks Lloyd.
Survivors include wife Ann Kirby Franks of Clarkesville, daughter Barbara Jean Franks Ellingson (Greg Lee Ellingson) of Clarkesville, sons David Kirby Franks (Regina) of Las Cruces, New Mexico and Freddy Gordon Franks (Krissy Leigh) of Demorest, grandchildren Kimsey Lee Ruggiero (Charles), Jacob Aaron Franks (Karla), Joanna Marie Franks, Tyler Slaton, Jennifer Kerbi Franks, Zachery Franks, and Riley Christian Slaton, as well as three great grandchildren Brooklyn, Charlee, and Reese.
