Ricky James Church

Ricky James Church, age 56 of Mt. Airy, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2020.

A lifelong resident of Habersham County, Ricky was born on February 4, 1964. He was the son of the late Jake and Lucille Church. Ricky was a material handler at TenCate – Geosynthetics and he was a member of Stonepile Baptist Church. He liked fast cars and motorcycles and he was an avid University of Georgia fan and loved watching the Bulldogs football games on Saturdays. Ricky was a loving husband to Nancy for 35 years and he deeply loved his daughter and grandkids. In addition to his parents, Ricky is preceded in death by daughter Deeanna Marie Church and father in law Earl Welborn.

Survivors include his loving wife Nancy Welborn Church of Mt. Airy, daughter and son in law Delana Christy Church Ansley and Brandon Ansley of Mt. Airy, brother and sister in law David and Freda Church of Mt. Airy, sister and brother in law Jean Church Smith and Loyd Smith of Clarkesville, mother in law Brenda Lovell (Ted) of Hollywood, grandchildren Katelyn Marie Russo (Anthony) of Avalon, Spencer James Edward Ansley of Mt. Airy and Cooper Joshua Ansley of Mt. Airy, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, June 26, 2020, from 5-8 PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2020, at 11:00 AM at Hillside Memorial Chapel with interment to follow the service in Stonepile Baptist Church Cemetery. Those in attendance will need to comply with the Centers for Disease Control recommendation for social distancing.
