Reba Nell Evans Lewallen

Reba Nell Evans Lewallen, 92, of Baldwin, Georgia, took her Heavenly flight home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 07, 2024.

Born in Lula, Georgia, on April 20, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Luther L. & Myrtle Hopper Evans. Reba was a graduate of Hickory Flat High School, Class of 1950. In 1954, she married Garland William Lewallen.  Together, they founded and operated Northeast GA Carpet in 1968, where she remained involved until five years ago. During that time, she owned and operated The Young World Children’s Clothing Store for around 20 years. For many years, Reba actively attended Mountain View Baptist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed vegetable gardening and canning. Reba was well known for her skilled cooking.  Most of all, she will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, doting grandma and great-grandma whose life was patterned as God, Family, and Work.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Garland William Lewallen, Sr.; brother Denver Evans; sister Ulmar Evans; brothers-in-law Jewell Thomas and Tim McCoy; father-in-law and mother-in-law William Jasper and Blanche Saxon Lewallen; brother-in-law Jimmy Lewallen (Virginia); sister-in-law Winnie Thomas (Roy); and sister-in-law Carolyn Lewallen.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Garland William “Bill” Lewallen, Jr. (Marsha) and Bradley Lewallen (Alicia); grandchildren, Garland William “Will” Lewallen, III (Chandler), Mathew Howard “Matt” Lewallen (Brooke), Abigail Grace “Abby” Lewallen, Lawson Evan Lewallen, & Lindsey Elizabeth “Lu” Lewallen; great-grandchildren, Garland “William” Lewallen IV, Grey Katherine Lewallen, and James Russell Lewallen; sisters and brother-in-law, Elora Stargel, Betty Thomas (George Jones), and Mary Ruth McCoy; brother & sister-in-law, Melvin and Emi Evans; brothers-in-law, Marvin Lewallen (Joyce), Bobby Lewallen, Danny Lewallen (Peggy), and David Lewallen (Shelby); numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am on Friday, September 13, 2024, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart, with Rev. Steve Lewallen & Rev. Saul McCoy officiating.  Interment will follow in the L.L. Evans Family Cemetery in Lula.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2024.
