Ralph Ronald (Ron) Johnson

obit flag largeRalph Ronald (Ron) Johnson, of Cornelia, GA and formally of Duluth, GA. passed away and went to be with Lord on August 13, 2015.

His Memorial Service was held Sunday August 16, 2015 at Bill Head Funeral Home in Duluth, GA.

Ron was born February 17, 1936 in Statesville, N. C. the son of Corbett Donald and Bertha Johnson. Ron grew up in Statesville and was a member of the Statesville Senior High School Class of 1953. Ron entered the USMC in 1953 during the Korean Conflict. He attended “Boot Camp” at Parris Island, S. C. and Marine Corps Supply School at Montford Point, Camp Lejeune, N. C. and served with the Camp MT Battalion. He transferred to Camp Pendleton, CA for Advanced Survival Training at Pickle Meadows, NV, then traveled overseas to Tocaoma, Japan where he served as Supply Co-coordinator in the Supply Support Group for the 3rd Marine Division. Upon completing this tour, SGT Johnson returned to the US and was assigned to the Marine Corps Supply Depot, Albany, GA where he completed his enlistment and was Honorable Discharged from the Corps. Ron moved to Atlanta, GA where he attended John Marshall Law School and Georgia State College.

Ron worked for many years as a sales rep with American Greetings Corp, The Esterbrook Pen Co and Champion International Corp. as a sales representative. Ron formed Sunbelt Marketing, N.A. with showrooms in the Atlanta Merchandise Mart to represent “Prestigious Products” manufacturers to the Gift, Office Supply and Leather Goods Industries. Sunbelt Marketing represented manufacturers at the major shows in the U.S. Upon retirement in 2001, Ron consulted with Egglands Best Eggs in NE GA as their Consumer Products representative. Ron also held current his Georgia Real Estate License at Virtual Properties Realty Biz. and was active in the Georgia real estate market until his death.

Ron fathered four children in two marriages. His first marriage was with Jeffie Sue Chambers-Johnson and produced three children. Jonathan Steven Johnson (1961) of Cornelia, Georgia, Joel Starling Johnson (1962) of Cornelia, Georgia, Janet Susan Johnson (1966) of Atlanta, Georgia.

Ron’s second marriage was with June Love Washburn-Johnson and produced one child, Shanna Jonet Johnson (1979) of Buford, Georgia. Ron’s children have 4 granddaughter’s, 1 grandson, 6 great grandchildren.
