Norman “Junior” Davis, Jr., age 77 of Mt. Airy, passed away Friday, February 17, 2017, at his residence.
Born in Habersham County on December 19, 1939, he was a son of the late Norman Davis, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Blair Davis. Mr. Davis was an active and devoted member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church and he was retired from both Habersham Metal and Piedmont Metal. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, racing, and was an avid UGA sports fan.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Charles Cane; sisters, Lucille Martin and Brenda Thurmond; brothers, Wade Davis and Julian Davis.
Surviving are loving wife of 53 years, Carolyn Alexander Davis; son and daughter-in-law, Calvin & Pam Davis of Mt. Airy; son, William Davis of Mt. Airy; daughter-in-law, Jackie Cane of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Scotty & Jen Sanders, Ashley Cane, Kyle Davis all of Mt. Airy, Lisa & JC Morris of Cleveland, Courtney Cane & Josh Epps of Comer; 12 great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd & Ruby Davis and Rev. Ray & Janice Davis all of Demorest; sisters, Vernie Burns, Blanche Burns, and Geneva Gosnell all of Demorest.
Funeral services are 2 pm Sunday, February 19, 2017, at Mt. Airy Baptist Church with Dr. Butch Franklin and Rev. Tony Goss officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery with Rev. Ray Davis officiating and full military honors provided by the Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720, the Habersham County American Legion Post #84, the Rabun County DAV Chapter #15, and the Georgia National Guard.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-8 pm on Saturday.
