Norman Baker

Norman Baker, age 81 of Demorest, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2017.

Born in Rabun County, Georgia on April 15, 1936, he was a son of the late Virgil Baker and Della Whitworth Taylor. Mr. Baker retired from Piedmont College as a Maintenance Supervisor after 25 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Chastain Morrison Baker; and brother, Wayne Baker.

Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Richard & Kimberly Baker of Jacksonville, Florida; step-son, Michael Morrison of Mt. Airy; daughters, Vicky O. Dye of Cumerland, Maryland and Della Mae Baker of Lexington, Kentucky; step-daughters, Brenda Franklin of Mt. Airy and Joyce Foster of Eastanollee; brothers, Larry Taylor of Mt. Airy and Ricky Taylor of Demorest; sister, Faye Anders of Martin; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and other family and friends.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2 pm, Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Welcome Home Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Austin Kelley officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 am until 1:45 pm prior to the service hour on Saturday.
