(Helen)- No one was seriously hurt as a result of a two-vehicle accident south of Helen Monday, where one of the vehicles ran off the road into the Chattahoochee River.

Captain Jim Couch, White County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported at 11:05 AM in the 7000 block of Helen Highway.

Deputies located a vehicle that was partially submerged in the Chattahoochee River.

Couch said during the investigation it was determined that a 2012 Toyota Sienna driven by Charlene Cappellini of Tallahassee, Florida, had entered the roadway from a parking area into the path of a 2011 Ford Escape that was southbound on Helen Highway.

According to Couch, the Escape was driven by Jay Edwards of Young Harris.

The impact caused Edwards vehicle to leave the roadway and down an embankment, coming to rest partially in the Chattahoochee River

The White County EMS transported Edwards to the hospital for a medical evaluation. There were no other injuries reported.

The White Sheriff’s Office investigated the accident and Couch said, so far, no charges have been filed.
