The North Georgia Technical College (NGTC) Foundation has established two memorial funds to recognize the leadership and contributions of the college’s late president, Dr. Mark Ivester. One of the funds is an endowed scholarship. The other is for the renovation of the college’s historical gymnasium into a community and student wellness and learning center.
“Dr. Ivester’s focus was always on our students and our community,” says NGTC Interim President Michele Shirley. “Our college is memorializing him in ways that would offer support to our students.”
Ivester served the college for more than 20 years in various leadership roles. He became president in 2016.
School officials say he constantly searched for ways to improve instruction and facilities on the three campuses that serve an eight-county Northeast Georgia area. Dr. Shirley says he was “a tremendous president, leader, and friend.”
Dr. Ivester passed away on Sept. 12 due to complications from COVID-19.
Donations to the Dr. Mark A. Ivester Memorial Scholarship and the Gymnasium Wellness and Learning Center may be made online through the college website at https://northgatech.edu/foundation/donate. Checks may also be mailed to the NGTC Foundation, P.O. Box 65, Clarkesville, GA 30523.
Donations are tax-deductible, and the family will be notified of scholarship and gymnasium renovation contributions.
