NANCY FLEMING ADAMS, of Clarkesville, GA died on Saturday, November 8, 2014.
She was born in Richmond, VA on May 3, 1935 to George Beverly Fleming and Dorothy Mahone Fleming.
She graduated from Georgia State Univ. with a BA in Psychology, a M.ED in Counseling and from Emory University with a MA an Education as a Reading Specialist. She was married to Carlton Jay Adams for 55 years. They resided in Oxford, GA for 26 years and moved to Habersham county GA in 1987.
Nancy was a 1st & 2nd grade teacher in Newton County, GA and Banks County, GA for 30 years. She was passionate about making a difference in the lives of her students. During her tenure in Newton County she was named Teacher of the Year. She enjoyed world travels, gardening, bird watching and reading. She was a member of The Vine and Verse Book Club and Grace Calvary Episcopal Church.
Nancy was a beloved sister, mother, & grandmother and is survived by her children, Christopher Jay Adams & his wife Karen Adams of Clayton, GA; Nancy Adams Minnich & her husband Cortlandt Minnich of Atlanta, and grandchildren Malcom L. Adams; Sarah T. Adams; Madison T. Minnich; & Carter A. Minnich.
Celebration of Life services will be held at Grace Calvary Episcopal Church on Wednesday, November 12 at 11:00 am. All are invited to a reception at Grace Calvary following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Calvary Church or the Ronnie Green Heart Institute at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
