The rain has stopped and floodwaters are receding across Northeast Georgia. All Flood Watches and Advisories have expired.
The low pressure system that ushered in heavy rain the latter part of this week dumped between 2 to 5 inches on Habersham and Rabun counties, with isolated amounts nearing 6 inches in central Rabun County.
The rain caused creeks, streams, and rivers to rise, resulting in minor flooding along the Chattooga, Tallulah, and Soque Rivers.
The Soque crested early Friday above minor flood stage, flooding the adjacent low-lying Pitts Park.
Other areas that experienced minor flooding included Cornelia, Baldwin, Demorest, Mount Airy, Tallulah Falls, Lake Rabun, Lakemont, Tallulah Gorge State Park, Lake Burton, Hollywood, Turnerville, and Seed Lake.
Skies over Northeast Georgia will clear overnight and a colder air mass will move into the area bringing with it seasonably cool temperatures.
