
Margaret Virginia Phillips, 87, of Demorest, Georgia, took her heavenly flight home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 26, 2024.
Born in White County, Georgia, on July 07, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Homer Eston & Bonnie Mae Truelove Nix. Virginia was a graduate of South Habersham High School, Class of 1955. She worked in the sewing industry for approximately 40 years, just to name a few – Baldwin Garment, Clarkesville Garment, Orbit Manufacturing, and others. Virginia enjoyed square dancing, fishing, puzzles, reading, and flowers. She was a wonderful cook, with her specialties being pecan pies, macaroni and cheese casserole, and pear relish. She enjoyed listening to gospel music, especially the “Gaithers.” Most of all, Virginia loved and enjoyed time with family, grandkids, and especially her great-grandkids. She always looked forward to once-a-month dinners with her classmates. Virginia was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Phillips; brothers Wayne Nix and Richard Nix; sisters and brothers-in-law Vivian and Joe Burton, Carolyn and Troy Skelton, Louise Payne, and Roberta Nix; brothers-in-law Jesse Holbrook, Hanes Jones, and David Hobson; and sister-in-law, Joan Nix.
Survivors include her only child, Rebecca “Becky” Lynne & Ricky Taylor; grandchildren, Bronson and Brittany Taylor, Meredith and Austin Whisenant; great-grandchildren, Aubrey Taylor and Colby Taylor; sisters, Lois Holbrook, Catherine Hobson, and Joyce Jones; brothers and sisters-in-law, Raymond Nix, Rev. Robert and Ann Nix, and Sue Nix; brother-in-law Tommy Payne; many nieces, nephews, friends; as well as her late husband’s son, Dwight & his wife, Elaine Phillips & his two children, Tammy and Lisa.
Funeral services are scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2024, at Hillside Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Robert Nix and Rev. Austin Kelley officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until the service hour on Sunday, July 28, 2024.
