Mrs. Mabel Wade Cumbie, age 75, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2020, at her home in Whigham, Georgia.
Due to ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, a private graveside service will be held at Wade Cemetery in Alto, Georgia. The Rev. Eric Mitchell will officiate. A local service will be held at a later time.
Mabel Wade Cumbie was born on February 22, 1945, in Linden, North Carolina. Her parents, Enoch Matthew Woodell and Estelle Mae Jackson Woodell have preceded her in death. Mabel was a member of Cairo First Freewill Baptist Church. She loved to sing and enjoyed taking part in the song services of her church. She was a hard worker; working as a supervisor for many years at Warner’s. Mabel never met a stranger and always greeted everyone with a big smile.
Mabel is survived by her husband, Donald Cumbie of Whigham; her children, Samantha Vickers (James) of Cairo, Georgia, Lonnie Wade (Kim) of Whigham, Kathy Brown of Cairo, Kim Whitley (Dean) of Whigham, Kristie Hanks (Chuck) of Cairo, Shannon Daniels of Destin, Florida, and Riley Cumbie (Kailee) of Thomasville, Georgia; brother, Bobby Woodell (Tycelia) of Cairo; 12 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Earnest Weyman Wade; parents; brothers, Lee and Floyd Woodell; and stepfather, Excel Ennis Cumbie.
