The group working to save one of Clarkesville’s oldest historic landmarks got a big boost this week from a corporate sponsor.
Kinetic by Windstream donated $2,500 to preserve and restore the Old Clarkesville Cemetery. It’s the lead gift in a fundraising campaign now underway.
Kinetic by Windstream President of Operations J. Berkshire presented the check to the Historic Clarkesville Cemetery Preservation Board of Directors. Diane Brown is the board’s fundraising committee chair.
“We are delighted to accept this initial corporate contribution,” Brown said during the Nov. 11 check presentation at Clarkesville City Hall. “We look forward to partnering with additional community businesses, organizations, and individuals as we move forward with the important work of restoring this community landmark.”
Berkshire said his company is “honored” to be a part of the project, adding, “The work of the cemetery board pays tribute to our community founders.”
