Juanita Morrison

Juanita Morrison, forever age 39, of the Batesville community, joined her parents and all her siblings on Tuesday morning, October 15, 2024, when the Lord called her Home. She was the daughter of the late William Lafayette Morrison and Georgia Free Morrison. She was preceded in death by brothers, Joseph B. Morrison and Wooldridge Morrison and sisters, Lorene Morrison, Merle Morrison, Eloise Sutton, Mozelle Free, Allene Sutton, and AnnaBelle Dean. She is survived by nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

After graduating from high school, Juanita attended Piedmont College. It was her dream to be a nurse. That did not work out at the time. However, over the years, she was a great nurse to her parents and other members of her family. Juanita retired from Orbit Industries at the Clarkesville plant after almost 30 years.

For many years, Juanita served her church, Oakey Mountain, in several different positions— Sunday School teacher, Young People’s Music Director, Clerk, and Pianist. She loved working with the children, teaching them songs and directing them in programs. She was a member of the Habersham Choir and a supporter of the Habersham County Singing Convention.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM, Friday, October 18, 2024, at Hillside Memorial Chapel with Rev. Larry Brown officiating. The family will greet friends after the service at the funeral home. A private burial will be held at Oakey Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery. The following great-nephews are asked to serve as Honorary Pallbearers: Daniel Dean, Dustin Dean, Kevin Peyton, Kerry Peyton, Isaac Morrison, Jeremy Sutton, Joe Sutton, and Jason Sutton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The School of Gospel Music, P. O. Box 115 Blairsville, GA 30514, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 50 Memphis TN 38101-9929.

The family would like to thank the staff of The Oaks for their excellent care of Juanita and most recently Pruitt Hospice for the extra care provided in her last days. A special thank you to Eleanor and Evelyn, her Oakes roommates, who became like family and made sure she had everything she needed.
