Janet Taylor Parker

Janet Taylor Parker, age 91 of Clarkesville, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 28, 2021.

Born in Clarkesville, Georgia on March 06, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Landrum Nevette & Connie Holcomb Taylor. Janet graduated from Clarkesville High School as valedictorian in 1946. After graduation, she moved to Atlanta and worked for the Sears-Roebuck Company (now the Ponce City Market development) and met Fred. They lived in Atlanta and Decatur and later moved to Stone Mountain and raised their family. Upon Fred’s retirement, they moved back to Clarkesville and built a home in the Macedonia community on the farm where she was born and raised. After being an antique dealer for many years in Atlanta, Janet opened Parker Place Antiques on the square in Clarkesville in 1984. She was a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Theron Parker; brother, Robert “Bob” Taylor; half-sisters, Gertrude Mauldin, Ann Barlow, & Helen Morrison. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Survivors include her sons & daughters-in-law, Greg & Terri Parker, Brad & Janean Parker, & Landy Parker all of Clarkesville, GA; grandchildren, Heather Parker, Dallas, TX; Anne Marie Schleier (John), Marietta, GA; Allison Felton (Tim), Apex, NC; Taylor Parker (Brittain), Birmingham, AL; and Landrum Parker (Micah), Woodstock, GA; six great-grandchildren; nephew & spouse, Fred & Alice Barlow of St. Simons Island, GA; and a host of friends.

Following Janet’s wishes, the family will welcome friends at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at Macedonia Baptist Church with a graveside service immediately following.

The family also acknowledges Janet’s long-time caregivers and friends, Grace Ivester, Shirley Ledford, & Angel Hooper and appreciates their wonderful companionship during the final years of her life.
