James C. Barrett, age 83 of Cornelia, Georgia passed away on April 16, 2017.
Born in Banks County, Georgia on July 14, 1933, he was a son of the late McDonald Grady Barrett & Mattie Lou Parr Barrett. Mr. Barrett was a retired master carpenter with Southern Door & Plywood and worked with Fieldale Farms as well as The Candle Factory in Cornelia for several years. He enjoyed woodworking, mechanics, fishing, and sports including arm wrestling. James was very musically talented and loved playing the piano especially in church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his children, Ricky Barrett, Amber Barrett, brothers and sister-in-law, Donny & Jeanette Barrett, Jimmy Barrett, sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce Barrett Thompson & Doug Thompson, Mildred Barrett Filyaw & George Filyaw, and Jerry Williamson.
Survivors include wife of 50 years, Barbara Ann Barrett of Cornelia, GA; children, Michael & Diane Barrett of Spokane, WA; Vickie Barrett of Cornelia, GA; Janice Barrett of Conyers, GA; Aaron & Stephanie Barner of Cornelia, GA; Anthony & Amy Barrett of Pennsylvania; Grady & Jill Barrett of Cornelia, GA; James & Marley Barrett of Mt. Airy, GA; T.J. Barrett of Clarkesville, GA; Sabrina Barrett of Cornelia, GA; as well as 2 claimed daughters, Stephanie Moore of Clarkesville, GA and Elizabeth Bone of Baldwin, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bobby & Brenda Barrett, Rev. Johnny & Drucilla Barrett, Steve & Pam Barrett, all of Cornelia, GA; Terry & Judy Barrett of Mt. Airy, GA; Jerry & Joyce Barrett of Banks County; Billy Joe & Sandra Barrett of Baldwin, GA; sister, Betty Nelle Williamson of Banks County; sister-in-law, Beth Oliver Barrett of Baldwin; 19 grandchildren including James Cayden Barrett of the home; 16 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, & friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2017 at New Vision Worship Center with Rev. Mickey Umbehant, Bishop Clarence Reynolds, & Rev. Sanford Kimbrell officiating. Interment will follow in the Level Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 until 4 p.m. & 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday.
