Jack Eugene Wiley Martin, age 81, of Cornelia, Georgia, went to his Heavenly Home on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Martin was born on April 15, 1942, in Danville, VA, to the late Howard and Hattie Chitwood Martin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Wendy Lynn Baker; brothers, Curtis Martin, Lewis Martin, Charles Martin, Clifford Martin, and Robert Martin; sisters, Frances Knight, Belle Norton, and Sadie Marie Jones.
Mr. Martin was a Retired Veteran, having served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and serving a total of 21 years. He also had retired from Conagra Poultry in Gainesville with 20 years of service. Following his second retirement, Jack worked for LP Gas Company and continued working past his 80th birthday. Jack was known for his skills with Woodworking and enjoyed spending time on the porch and drinking coffee with his family.
Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Carolyn Hardy Martin, of Cornelia; sons, Jason Martin, of Cornelia; Troy Austin, of Cornelia; Randall Martin, of Toccoa; daughter, Sherry Lee, of Toccoa; grandson and spouse, Scott and Jessica Martin, of Clarkesville; numerous grandchildren and extended family and friends.
A Private Family Service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Whitfield Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel, 1370 Industrial Boulevard, Baldwin, Georgia 30511.
