Henrietta Ledford Herrin

Mrs. Henrietta Ledford Herrin of Cornelia passed away Sunday, September 1, 2019, at her residence following an extended illness. She was 83.

Mrs. Herrin, also known as “Nanny or Nana”, was born in Cleveland on August 13, 1936 to the late Henry H. Ledford and Julia Allison Ledford. She was a wife, a mother, a grandmother, an aunt, and a dear friend. A large role in Mrs. Herrin’s life was also being the cofounder and co owner of Midway Electric alongside her late husband John Herrin. She was the first face you’d see when you entered the office surrounded pictures of children and grandchildren she had taped up and placed around her desk. A “Beware of the Dog” sign was also there to warn others of her little lap dog that went to work with her every day and that would rest under her desk. Mrs. Herrin was a member of Faith Tabernacle Baptist Church, and attended Loudesville Campmeeting her entire life. Campmeeting was an event Mrs. Herrin looked forward to every year. Her signature side dishes were macaroni salad, baked beans and chocolate éclair.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Herrin was preceded in death by sisters, Annette Ledford Underwood, Lois Ledford Abernathy, Wilma Ledford Barrett, and Kate Ledford Howard. Mrs. Herrin was the youngest of the five. Survivors include her Daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Ricky Barron, Demorest; Son and daughter-in-law, David and Melannie Herrin, Cornelia; 8 grandchildren Alex Herrin, Ashten Herrin Kellum and Joel Kellum, John David Herrin, Ben Jordan and Katie Barron Jordan, and Kyle and Jennifer Barron; 1 great-granddaughter Reese Jordan; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Needless to say, the tent was and is always full at Campmeeting.
