Twelve longtime Nashville and local songwriters will perform their award-winning tunes the weekend of April 28-30 during the Helen Songwriters Festival. The festival provides music lovers with a rare opportunity to see and hear the artists behind the hits.
The festival showcases regional-gone-national talent each year at Hofbrauhaus, Cowboys & Angels, and the Marketplatz Bandshell. Following are just a few of the Nashville songwriters who will be playing, with their famous performers in parenthesis: Earl Bud Lee (Blake Shelton, George Straight, Alison Kraus, Garth Brooks’ “Friends in Low Places”); Greg Crowe (Montgomery Gentry, Sammy Kershaw, Lonestar); Dave Gibson (Tim McGraw, Confederate Railroad); Becky Hobbs (George Jones, Loretta Lynn, Alabama); Wil Nance (Brad Paisley, John Michael Montgomery) and many more.
Events are scheduled for Friday, April 28, from noon – 7 p.m.; Saturday, April 29, 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.; Sunday, April 30, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. (last times noted are when the last performers go onstage)
