Hall announces bid for State Senate

Just days after announcing he won’t seek re-election to the Habersham County Commission, chairman Stacy Hall has announced his candidacy for Georgia State Senate.

In a post on Facebook on Wednesday, Hall, a Republican, announced his intention to run for the 50th district seat currently held by John Wilkinson (R-Toccoa).

Hall’s announcement comes on the same day that Wilkinson announced he’s running Congress. Wilkinson is running to succeed 9th District Georgia Congressman Doug Collins who’s running for U.S. Senate.

Hall says he decided to run “After much prayer and speaking with many individuals across the district.” He says, “If elected, I plan to represent you in fighting for our North Georgia values and Constitutional Rights.”

Hall has served on the Habersham County Commission for the past three years. He recently announced he would not seek re-election this year in order to spend more time with his family.

Before being elected to the commission, Hall made an unsuccessful bid for the Georgia House of Representatives.

Hall spent 26 years in the sports industry. During that time, he served as athletic director and business professor at Truett McConnell University from 2013-2017. He resigned from TMU to work with a real estate development and consulting company he and his wife, Ivy, started in 2015.
