Two Habersham Central High athletes were voted into the BLITZ Hall of Fame Class of 2021. Clay Nelson and Maddie Chosewood were among 46 Northeast Georgia area high school athletes to make the cut this year.
Banks County softball player Madi Cronic was the top vote-getter among all the nominees, receiving 26,785 total votes.
Nelson was a 2-time First Team All-Region selection while anchoring the front line for the Raiders. Overall, he was a 3-time All-Region selection who graded out at 90% and registered 72 pancake blocks. Nelson went on to play college ball at Berry College. (3,418 votes)
Maddie Chosewood had a stellar senior campaign, tallying 191 digs, 159 kills, 38 aces, 31 assists, and 24 blocks for the Lady Raiders. Her career saw her gather 400-plus kills, 600-plus digs, 100-plus blocks, 120-plus assists, and 80-plus aces. (7,633 votes)
There were 183,454 votes cast for this year’s nominees. White and Banks counties tied for the highest number of inductees, with six apiece. Rabun County, Tallulah Falls School, Lumpkin County, and Jefferson each had five. Commerce and Stephens County High School each had four BLITZ Hall of Fame inductees this year. Towns County had three, and Dawson and Habersham each had two.
Since the inaugural class in 2016, there have been 284 area high school athletes voted into the virtual BLITZ Hall of Fame.
