Larry Warren, age 85, of Demorest, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2018.
Mr. Warren was born on July 16, 1932, in Cornelia, Georgia, to the late Henry Lawrence Warren, Sr. and Gladys Benfiel Warren. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Deena Warren and sister, Jackie Williams. Mr. Warren retired from the United States Armed Forces having served in the United States Navy and United States Air Force with 22 years of service. He was a Korean Conflict Veteran. Larry was an employee of the Georgia State Government retiring with 25 years of service. Mr. Warren was a member of First Baptist Church of Cornelia where he served on many committees and was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class. He was a Deacon Emeritus, Charter Member of Prime Timers, and church volunteer. Larry was a member of Cornelia Lodge #92 F&AM for over 50 years and received his 50 Year Apron and Pin. He was a member of Scottish Rite 32nd Degree KCCH and a Shriner and member of Yaarab Shrine Temple. Larry was a lifetime member of Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720.
Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Loraine Roach Warren of Demorest; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Phyllis Warren of Toccoa; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Pat Warren of Demorest; and a number of nephews and cousins.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 pm on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia, with Dr. Eric Spivey and Rev. Steve Doran officiating. Interment will follow in VFW Memorial Park with full military honors provided by the United States Air Force and Rev. David Turner officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at the funeral home.
