Forrest Clifford “Bud” Rossey, Jr., age 85, of Clarkesville, Georgia, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2016 at the residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Rossey was born on February 6, 1931 in Jackson, Georgia. He is preceded in death by his son, Howard Lee Rossey; parents, Forrest C. Rossey, Sr. and Annie Lillian Jamerson Rossey; sister, Patsy Warner Rossey Polk.
He was a graduate of Jackson High School, and also of The Naval Electronics Training School. He was a member of Amy’s Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Rossey was a 2nd class Petty Officer having served a 4 year term in The United States Navy, during the Korean Conflict. He was in the Fleet Aircraft Service Squadron serving as manager of the Radio and Radar Shop planning and management. He was in charge of organizing and supervising aircraft check and installation crews. He earned the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Korean War Service Medal, United States Navy Service Commemorative Medal, Korean Defense Commemorative Medal, and The Cold War Victory Commemorative Medal. His war record has two letters of commendation on performance of duty.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis M. Rossey, of Clarkesville; son and daughter-in-law, Forrest C. Rossey, III and Dessie, of Tyrone; sister, Audrey Rossey Halley, of Jackson; grandchildren and spouses, Steven and Christina Rossey; Matthew and Kristin Rossey; grandchild, David Rossey; and four great grandchildren.
Memorial Services are scheduled for 3:30 p.m., Friday, April 8, 2016 at Amy’s Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Irvin officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Friday, April 8, 2016 at the church.
