Flames engulfed single-story home on Athens Highway

An early morning house fire on Athens Highway in Hall County destroyed this single story residence. (Hall County Fire Rescue)

A house in the 2200 block of Athens Highway was destroyed by a fire that broke out early Sunday morning, according to Hall County Fire Rescue.

The fire department responded to reports of the residential fire at approximately 1 a.m. on April 27. When the first engine arrived, the single-story house was already fully engulfed in flames, says HCFR Public Information Officer Kimberlie Ledsinger.

Firefighters quickly knocked down the blaze using a defensive fire attack. They remained on the scene to extinguish any remaining hot spots.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. There was no word on any injuries. The Hall County Fire Marshal’s Office is conducting an investigation.
