Edmond Cecil “Eddie” Williams

Edmond Cecil “Eddie” Williams, age 90, of Mt. Airy, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, following an extended illness.

Born in Demorest, Georgia, on May 15, 1930, he was a son of the late Robert & Mary Jane Lovell Williams. Eddie proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a machinist for Westinghouse Airbrake Company, retiring after 29 plus years of dedicated service. Eddie was a very devoted husband to his wife Christine of 69 years, a loving father to his children, and dedicated grandfather as well as a great-grandfather.

Eddie was a very talented musician, playing various stringed instruments. In his early years, he traveled across the country playing professionally, sharing the stage with The June Carter-Cash Family, playing guitar for the Inspirations Quartet, and once had a jam session with Chet Atkins. He also worked for Scott’s Old-Time Medicine Show, played for the Rodeo at Cheyenne, Wyoming Pioneer Days, and performed for many different Live-Radio programs. Eddie also taught guitar lessons for many years.

He was a faithful member of Victory Baptist Church in Clarkesville, where he taught Sunday School, served as Sunday School Superintendent, and served as church organist for over 35 years.

In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by his brothers, Jim Williams, Shubert Williams, Jake Williams, Rev. Irce Williams, & Sylvester Williams; sisters, Della Stephens & Elsie Mullinax.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Survivors include his loving wife Christine Frady Williams of Mt. Airy, GA; son & daughter-in-law, Dr. Ronald & Cheryl Williams of Murrayville, GA; daughter & son-in-law, Debra & Doug Smith of Demorest, GA; grandchildren, John Williams, Katherine Williams Johnson, Matthew Smith, & Caleb Smith; 9 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, & a host of friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 18, 2021, at Victory Baptist Church, with Rev. Connie Berry & Rev. Shane Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until the service hour.
