Deputies arrest Flowery Branch man in molestation investigation

Hall County Sheriff’s Office deputies recently arrested a Flowery Branch man in the culmination of a child molestation investigation that began last year.

Steven Edward Cerny, 57, was taken into custody on Friday evening, Jan. 8, at Hall County Sheriff’s Office Headquarters. He’s charged with two counts of sexual battery and one count of child molestation.

According to the preliminary investigation, Cerny committed the crimes against a female child at his residence on the afternoon of Nov. 1, 2020. Cerny knew the victim, who lives in another Georgia county, before the abuse, officials say.

A family member of the victim reported it to the Sheriff’s office after the victim disclosed it the day of the alleged incident.

Deputies booked Cerny in at the Hall County Jail following his arrest. He was released on a $22,600 bond Saturday afternoon, Jan. 9.

The case remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
