It’s been three months since Jonathan Knight took over as Demorest’s interim fire chief and three years since he joined Demorest’s Fire Department. Now, he’s the permanent fire chief for the City of Demorest.

At Tuesday night’s city council meeting, the city voted unanimously to make Knight the city’s official fire chief.  Knight took over after former chief Ken Ranalli suddenly resigned from his position in June. After his resignation, the Demorest City Council unanimously voted to confirm Jonathan Knight as the interim fire chief for the city.

Knight has been a firefighter with the City of Demorest since 2019 and has worked with both the Clarkesville and Cornelia fire departments in his firefighting career, which he began at age 14.
