Dank Whitlock

obit flagDank S. Whitlock, age 92 of Alto, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 05, 2016 at his residence following an extended illness.

Born in Banks County, Georgia on March 05, 1924, he was a son of the late Steve & Bertha Barrett Whitlock. Mr. Whitlock served his country proudly in the United States Army in the 475th Infantry during WWII. He was a Purple Heart recipient. Mr. Whitlock was a Manufacturing Manager with Schnadig Furniture Company with 30 plus years of service. After retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, bee keeping, and gardening. He was a member of the Level Grove Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Buck Whitlock, sisters, Janie Dills, Lonie Glenn, Lougene Snipes, & Maybell Wilbanks.

Survivors include his loving wife of 34 years, Betty McAllister Whitlock, daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie & Tony Waldon, Karen & Weldon Wright all of Alto; sons & daughters-in-law, Greg & Kelly Whitlock of Covington, KY; Joe Allen of Gainesville, FL, Steve “Bryan” & Kaye Allen of Mt. Airy, GA, Jeff Allen of Greenville, SC; sister, Christine Dyer of Demorest; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 08, 2016 from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Rice and the Rev. Brian James officiating. Interment will follow Yonah Memorial Gardens will full military honors provided by the Georgia National Guard.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 p.m. & 6-8 p.m. on Thursday.
