Traffic patterns of three city streets will be on the table for discussion at the Clarkesville City Council Work Session on Monday, November 6th, beginning at 5:00 p.m. and continuing at the regular meeting starting at 6:00 p.m. Two of those streets could possibly become one-way streets.
According to documents received from the city, it is undetermined what the traffic pattern will be for Bryant Street; however, Reeves Street may become one-way traveling from Monroe Street to West Water Street. Asbury Street may also become one-way from Historic US 441 to East Water Street.
Complaints from area residents brought the issue to the surface at last month’s council meeting. Residents feel the streets are too narrow for two-way traffic and believe it is difficult to pass other automobiles without driving off the pavement.
On Washington Street, there are several aged trees that could become a hazard if not attended to properly. Pedestrians and motorists could be at risk from the potential of limbs or the trees themselves falling during inclement weather. Resolutions to these issues will be discussed at Monday’s meeting.
Other items on the agenda include the city hosting a shred event, the city’s holiday schedule, new EPA lead rules related to water, personnel pay adjustment per ARPA rules, and the city’s logo.
City Manager Keith Dickerson will provide an update to the City Council on the city’s Short-Term Rental Ordinance during the Council’s regular meeting at 6:00 p.m.
Clarkesville City Council meetings are held at Clarkesville City Hall at 123 North Laurel Drive in Clarkesville. The meetings are open to the public.
