The Georgia State Patrol says charges are pending in a double tractor-trailer crash in Baldwin.
It happened shortly after 12 noon on Friday, Oct. 4, at the intersection of GA 365 and GA 384/Duncan Bridge Road.
The State Patrol says 33-year-old Jeremy Kastner of Cleveland was hauling an empty logging trailer when he failed to yield while turning onto the highway. A northbound truck hauling a trailer loaded with chicken waste steered into the median trying to avoid him. The logging truck struck the chicken truck which was being driven by 41-year-old Steven Maxwell of Toccoa.
The chicken truck overturned, spilling the waste onto the southbound lanes of the highway.
The wreck temporarily blocked the left northbound travel lane of GA 365. The southbound lanes near the crash site were closed for more than four hours as crews cleared the wreckage and waste.
Both Kastner and Maxwell were injured in the crash. They were taken by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville in stable condition, according to Baldwin Police.
