Carleen Dial Ruark

Mrs. Carleen Dial Ruark, age 89, of Cornelia, Georgia went to her Heavenly Home on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Ruark was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church of Cornelia where she had served as  a leader of Girls in Action, Royal Ambassadors, taught Boys Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School.  She was instrumental in getting Hillside Baptist Church established. Carleen was born on May 26, 1928 in Athens, Georgia to the late Carl V. Dial and Mary Blanche Malcolm Dial. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Jessie Dial Logan and Nannette Dial Green.

Carleen’s greatest pleasure on earth was time spent with family and friends. She was deeply devoted and supportive to her husband, children, and grandchildren. Nothing in life was dearer to her than her family. Everyone in the family considered her their greatest “cheerleader”. In turn, this contributed to her long and happy life. Many of those friends were members of the Cornelia Garden Club. She also enjoyed playing bridge and going on local outings together with her dear friends, who were a major part of her life. Carleen was a tremendous caregiver. She was a loving person who took care of several family members throughout the years.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 70 years, Robert W. “Bob” Ruark; son and daughter-in-law, Keith Ruark and Donna; daughter and son-in-law, Bobbie Ruark Jones and Dennis; grandchildren, Carla Lasseter and husband, Shane; Brenton, Brett and Carlee Ruark; great-grandchildren, Grant and Drew Lasseter, and Peyton Ruark.
