Habersham Countians interested in knowing how and why their local tax dollars are spent as they are can grab a front-row seat to the budgeting process.
The county will hold departmental budget review meetings next week, March 28-30. During these meetings, each elected official, judicial officer, constitutional officer, and department head will be given approximately 15 to 20 minutes to discuss their proposed budgets and requests for the upcoming fiscal year.
The meetings are open to the public, but there will be no opportunity for public comments. A quorum of commissioners may attend, but no votes will be taken, says county public information officer Rob Moore.
The budget review meetings are scheduled as follows:
While the schedule’s arrangement may change without notice, the dates and times will remain the same, says Moore.
The meetings will be held at the county administrative building at 130 Jacob’s Way, Clarkesville, in the commission conference room on the main floor. They will also be livestreamed on the county website.
