Fire officials say they don’t know what caused a blaze that burned a barn to the ground late Monday night in White County.
The fire broke out around 11 p.m. in the area of Old Caudell Road near Duncan Bridge Road.
Units from White County Fire Services and EMS and the Cleveland Fire Department responded. They arrived within minutes and determined the barn was unoccupied, says the public information officer for White County Public Safety, Bryce Barrett.
“Fire Personnel established containment of the blaze and prevented [its] spread to nearby homes and wooded areas,” Barrett says.
First responders remained on the scene throughout the night, putting out hotspots and making sure the fire did not reignite.
The White County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) responded with its Rehab Unit. They established a rehabilitation area to provide refreshments to fire personnel in recovery.
According to Barrett, the cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
