Bobby Lowell Murray, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at his home in Cornelia, GA.
Bobby was born on March 3, 1949, in Clayton, GA to James D. and Nina Holbrooks Murray. He graduated from South Habersham High School, obtained his Bachelor’s degree from The University of Georgia, and earned his Master’s degree from North Georgia College and State University.
Bobby was a proud American and served in the U.S. Army as a Green Beret, serving in Vietnam. He received an Honorable Discharge after 4 years of military service. He spent the majority of his career working as a Traffic Engineer for the Georgia Department of Transportation and retired from GDOT with over 25 years of service.
As a young man, Bobby loved working out. He was an avid reader, collector of films, and loved his Scottish heritage. A passionate and loving guy, Bobby was also quick-witted and found great joy in teasing his family and friends often.
He is survived by his two brothers, James Murray of Cornelia, and Donald Murray (Linda) of Mt. Airy; sister and devoted caregiver, Carolyn Dill of Cornelia; daughters, Heather Murray (Adam Norman) of Mt. Airy, and Vanessa Friend (Ryan) of Chatsworth; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his nephew, James Robert Ray Murray.

The funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, October 2, 2022, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with Pastor James Lyons and Mr. Dale Dill officiating. The service will be live streamed from the Facebook page of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in Camp Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors provided by the Grant Reeves Veteran’s Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until the service hour on Sunday at the funeral home.
