Arrest made in Baldwin home invasion

An arrest has been made in connection with a home invasion May 17th in the Meadow Brook community in Baldwin.

Police arrested and charged 34-year-old Johhny Xaysombath (aka Johnny Bravo) of Mt. Airy. Officers took him into custody Sunday morning while executing warrants at 450 Camp Creek Circle.

Xaysombath is charged with 1st degree home invasion and burglary, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

He was taken into custody without incident, according to Baldwin Police Chief Charles Webb.

Webb issued a press release Sunday shortly after Xaysombath’s arrest.

“At the time of the initial incident on Thursday and the understandable frantic condition of the victim, we were not able to get a very good description of the offender or the incident,” he says.

The home invasion occurred at a residence on Brookcrest Drive in the Meadow Brook community.

The suspect allegedly was armed when he forced his way into a woman’s home while searching for someone. He apparently got the wrong house. The woman whose home he invaded told police he threatened to harm her if she called for help.

After interviewing witnesses, authorities were able to identify the intended target of the home invasion.

Baldwin Police Officer Ryan Thomas and Sergeant Ryan Provost subsequently gathered enough information to positively ID Xaysombath as the suspect.

Warrants were sworn out for his arrest on Saturday May 19th.

“Baldwin Police Department would like to thank Cornelia Police Department and The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office for all their assistance in this case, as well as the citizens of Baldwin for the help they provided to us and the victim,” Chief Webb says.
