Annie Lois Swafford Mote

Annie Lois Swafford Mote, age 99, of Demorest, Georgia, Georgia passed to be with our Lord on Friday, January 16, 2015 following an extended illness.

Mrs. Mote was born on May 19, 1915 in Macon County, North Carolina to the late Jess A. and Esta Mae Tallent Swafford. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harlin Mote; daughter, Andrea LaJune Britton Faust; brothers, Hubert Swafford, Louis Swafford; and sister, Pauline Ansley. Mrs. Mote was an active member of First Baptist Church of Cornelia where she was a member of the Volunteer Sunday School Class, Helping Hands, and WMU. She also worked with ARC. Mrs. Mote was a retired nurse having done her training at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Ga. She later went to work for a private practice urology group from which she retired in 1976. After retirement she moved back to Habersham County, Georgia, where she had grown up from the age of five and had spent the early years of marriage.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Anne and John South, Demorest, GA; and brother, Joseph Swafford, Demorest, GA; grandsons, Jess Andrew and Lynette South, Marietta, GA, William Jeffery Britton, Demorest, GA, Edward Todd Faust, Sacramento, CA; step grandsons, Shayne and Cecelia South, Lynchburg, VA, Shawn and Marion South, Conyers, GA; step granddaughter, Fonda South Tott, Oxford, GA; great granddaughters, Jennifer and Jac Renteria, Grand Junction, CO, Julia Britton, Dahlonega, GA, Haley Faust, Sacramento, CA; step great granddaughters, Heather South, Baxley, GA, Amber South, Demorest, GA, Miranda South, Lynchburg, VA; step great grandson, Gary Tott, Phoenix AZ; thirteen great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 19, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Cornelia with Rev. David Turner, Dr. Eric Spivey and Rev. Walter Singletary officiating. Interment will follow in the Hills Crossing Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, January 18, 2015.
