Anna Ruby Falls closed due to landslide; rain shuts down roads at Lake Russell

The relentless rain in north Georgia is creating problems at popular outdoor destinations in and around Habersham.

Anna Ruby Falls is closed until further notice due to a landslide and trees down across the road. Forestry officials closed the recreation area north of Helen on Friday.

The Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest office in Gainesville issued an alert saying U.S. Forest Service staff are assessing the situation and developing a plan to clear the debris.

Forest Service officials ask the public to avoid the area until it reopens and heed all weather warnings.
