Mr. V. L. Lovell, age 96, of Batesville passed away on April 28, 2016 following an extended illness.
Mr. Lovell was born on May 14, 1919 in Habersham County, Georgia, to the late Virgil L. Sr. and Lillie Kastner Lovell. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Blondine Lovell, sons Gene, Joseph and Timothy Lovell, brothers Earl Lovell, R.L. Lovell, V.C. Lovell, and sister Irene Blalock.
Mr. Lovell served many years as a Commissioner of Habersham County. He retired as a USDA poultry inspector. He was also a respected bee keeper who loved taking care of his bees and selling his pure sourwood honey. Mr. Lovell was a U. S. Army Veteran having served during World War II.
Survivors include his son and daughter in law Terry and Diane Lovell, Batesville, GA, daughter Carol Bitner-Caputi and son in law William J. Caputi of Athens, GA, daughter and son in law Brenda and Lowell Tench of Demorest, GA, daughter in law Francis Lovell, estranged son and daughter in law Ronnie and Delores Lovell and estranged daughter Martha Bristol and son in law Wayne Bristol. Survivors also include sister Lillie Marie Barron, Clarkesville, GA, Judy Rae, Clarkesville, GA, and Ann Vandiver, Clarkesville, GA, brothers Fred Lovell, W. L. “Dub” Lovell, Carlos Lovell all of Clarkesville, GA. Grandchildren Brandon Lovell, Lance Lovell, Ursula Wiedmann, Eric Buchtmann, Elizabeth Tench, Renee Lovell, Scott Lovell, Troy Lovell, Chris Lovell, Terry Elrod, and David Bristol. He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank all the great care givers who cared for our mom and dad. A specil thanks to June Littrell for the many years of loving care of both our mom and dad. Both felt like you were a special daughter.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at 2:00 PM from the Hillside Memorial Chapel. Rev. Kyle Watts and Rev. John Humphries will officiate with interment to follow the service in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, April 30, 2016 from 5-8 PM and prior to the service on Sunday from 1-2 PM.
