Scattered severe storms developed across North Georgia on Friday afternoon. These storms produced widespread reports of hail and resulted in numerous severe thunderstorm warnings through the late afternoon and early evening hours.

Hail up to near half dollar size was reported in the strongest cell near Mt. Airy, with dime to quarter size hail falling in many other locations.

Storms will continue to move east across the region as a cold front approaches from the west. The risk for more small hail continues but will drop off as we lose daytime heating. More isolated thunderstorms are possible on Saturday
