The National Weather Service has issued another Fire Danger Statement for North and Central Georgia due to dry, windy weather conditions. Even though humidity values are expected to climb by Tuesday, forecasters say the elevated fire danger risk will continue at least through Monday evening.
Showers and embedded thunderstorms are expected ahead of a cold front late Tuesday into Wednesday. Some thunderstorms may be strong to severe with strong or damaging wind gusts.
Aside from thunderstorms, breezy to windy conditions are also expected from Tuesday, March 4, through Thursday, March 6.
The dry, windy weather contributed to fires across the region over the weekend, including in Banks and Habersham counties, where outdoor burns got out of control.
Fire officials remind residents to refer to their local burn permitting authorities before doing any outdoor burning.
