The Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) and federal investigators arrested a Gainesville man for trafficking methamphetamine with a street value of over $60,000.00. Charges came as a result of serving an outstanding arrest warrant.

Meco Antwon Champion, 51, of Gainesville, GA, was arrested at a hotel in the 700 block of Jesse Jewell Parkway on Wednesday afternoon, October 16.

In addition to the methamphetamine, Champion faces felony charges for possession of meth, marijuana, and cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and during the commission of a crime.

A statement from the Hall County Sheriff’s Office said investigators located the items while arresting Champion on a warrant for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, which is a felony. The initial warrant was obtained after finding approximately three grams of meth, a scale, and packaging material on October 10 at Champion’s residence on U.S. 129 and Athens Highway.

Champion remains in the Hall County Jail without bond as of Tuesday, October 22.
