What does Tom Cruise still feeling the need for speed, another brilliant Spielberg film, Viola Davis as a fierce warrior, Florence Pugh and Harry Styles in a good-looking clunker, a Marvel movie that features a vampire with no bite and the extinction of a dino-sized franchise all have in common?
Well, for me, they were either very, very good or they were very, very bad.
Yes, it’s that time of year again. In 2022, I saw a total of 63 movies, and 20 of them either fell into the category of making me love my job or stealing two hours of my life (give or take) that I will never, ever get back.
Plus, like I do every year, I have also included my picks for runner-up on both lists.
Without further ado, let’s find out which movies I thought were the best of the best and the bottom of the barrel in 2022!

And with that, we bring another year of movies to a close.
With 2023 on the horizon, we’re sure to be treated to some highly anticipated films. Of course, there’s the likes of Marvel and DC. There will also be the return of successful franchises such as Indiana Jones, Mission: Impossible and John Wick. Plus, there will no doubt be a series of films that will fly under the radar that you just might see on one of my lists next year.
I wish all of you a very safe and happy New Year, and as always, I’ll see you AT THE MOVIES!
