T.J.Maxx, the nation’s leading off-price retailer, will open at Habersham Village shopping center in Cornelia on August 7. The store’s parent company announced the opening date Tuesday.
“Our newest store in Cornelia will offer an ever-changing selection of high-quality, on-trend and brand-name merchandise at the amazing prices T.J.Maxx is known for. Our buyers create a unique mix that offers value for styles in every department, and we’re excited to bring this experience to a new neighborhood,” says T.J. Maxx President Tim Miner.
The new store is the latest addition to Habersham Village announced last year by property owner and developer Vangard Associates. It’s located in a section of the old Cornelia Kmart that was left vacant in 2017 when parent company, Sears Holding, closed it and 107 other Kmarts across the country. Planet Fitness and Bealls Outlet have already opened in the renovated space.
“By subdividing this former Kmart space, we were able to bring more goods and services – and value – to Habersham Village and its surrounding community,” explained Sam Krueger, the Atlanta leasing agent who worked with Vangard to bring these new businesses to Habersham County.
Delayed opening, location, and hours
T.J. Maxx in Cornelia was to have opened earlier this spring but was delayed due to supply chain issues. The 22,000 square-foot-store is now opening slightly ahead of its anticipated revised fall 2022 schedule. The developer says the new store will feature an easy to shop layout, bright and spacious dressing rooms, and single line queue for faster checkout.
The T.J. Maxx company currently operates more than 1,200 stores in 49 states and Puerto Rico. Its stores carry brand name and designer deals on fashion, accessories, jewelry, home, beauty and more.
Many shoppers in Habersham County and neighboring areas have been looking forward to the grand opening. The store is located at 351 Habersham Village Circle off US Business 441 in Cornelia.
